Normocin is an antibiotic solution used by scientists in bio-research to prevent microbial contamination of animal cell cultures.

Normocin is used as a "routine addition" to cell culture media to prevent mycoplasmal, bacterial and fungal contaminations in small or large scale animal cell cultures. Normocin replaces penicillin / streptomycin / amphotericin B preparations with the added advantage of being active against mycoplasmas.

Normocin should not be used as a substitute for good cell culture procedures.
